With Luka Doncic among the top favourites to win the regular season MVP, Jordan Brand wasted no time unveiling his third signature shoe, designed to create maximum separation from defenders. Within the design, Luka Doncic’s love for high-performance sports cars has been integrated into the upper. For example, part of the design of the shoe has been inspired by the acceleration and deceleration of tires at top speeds, while racing-tire traction was the inspiration behind the generative herringbone pattern on the outsole. The racing car motif continues around the shoe, with the pull tab made from the same material as seatbelts and the wavy upper design representing the high speeds.
Inside, the Luka 3 features an improved Isoplate system with a widened outrigger and removed sidewalls to reduce weight. This has allowed the facilitation of lateral and diagonal movements and Doncic’s style of play, consisting of quick stops and aggressive cuts. Complementing the isoplate system, a full-length Cushlon 3.0 foam provides cushioning and a smooth heel-to-toe transition. Set to debut in two colourways, the “Midnight Racer” will debut on July 5th, and “Photo Finish” will release globally on July 16th.
