On the 11th of March, Vince Carter checked into the game with 19.5 seconds remaining. As Julius Randle drained his second free-throw, Trae Young dribbled the ball up the court and passed it to Vince Carter who pulled up from three. The three he drained with 12.1 seconds remaining in overtime will be the last shot of his 22-season long NBA career.
Toronto is where it all started, Vince Carter was the first player to bless the city with a superstar. It was his leaping ability and slam dunks that will give him the nickname “Air Canada”. He would go on to play for the team for 7 seasons before he left to the New Jersey Nets.
In 2000, he would sign with Nike and the following year in Sydney he would debut the Shox BB4 where he showed the world Half-Man Half-Amazing.
So it makes sense to release a Shox BB4 in a Toronto Raptors themed colourway. The shoe that saw the start of Vince Carter’s rise to stardom and the team he played for during the highlight of his career.
The Nike BB Shox “Raptors” takes note from the vintage Raptors colours in red, black and purple. The whole upper is made of black leather with a mixture of smooth leather and pebbled leather. The heel features a bright red leather accent with purple, red and black strips of fabric covering the heel. The silver metallic external heel sits on top of the iconic Shox pods that are highlighted in Raptors purple. The shoe is finished off with a solid black outsole. Additional details include the Raptors scratch marks that are painted in 3M to reflect the scar marks in the dark.
The Nike Shox BB4 “Raptors” are set to drop of June 15th for $160.
