After the Kobe 5s were given the Proto treatment, it was confirmed that the Kobe 6 was next. While many expected it to release Spring 2021, Nike has surprised us with the announcement that the Kobe 6 will release on the holiday season. Coming in the iconic “Grinch” colourway, its release on Chrismas Eve will mark its 10-year anniversary of the colourway which originally released on 2010 Chrismas Day.
Inspired by Dr Seuss’s character the ‘Grinch’ the whole shoe uses a palette of different shades of green with red accents on the tongue logo to highlight the red eyes of the ‘Grinch’. The snakeskin inspired upper in particular, uses a bright neon green gradient which enhances the despicableness of the overall look.
While, the aesthetics of the Kobe 6 Proto will look almost identical to the original pair, its performance will be improved under Kobe’s principle to continue innovating and evolving. An improvement in cushioning through a newer Zoom Air bag and softer foam midsole is one we can expect. We can also anticipate a lighter feel of the shoe compared to the original. Overall, the Kobe 6 Proto will come with the improvements and adjustments to compliment the performance of athletes of today.
