Kevin Durant is one of the few players in the league to have his own signature shoe. He is also the very few that have a secondary signature line. The KD Trey 5, his secondary signature line, has so far released 8 silhouettes mainly targeting an audience looking for a budget signature shoe. Recently, an image of what looks to be the 9th model was leaked.
Upper

Since it’s a budget line, there is nothing special about the upper. The upper looks to be made up of cheap performance mesh paired with fuse overlays around the lace eyelids for strength.
Midsole Cushion Set-up

The KD Trey VII introduced a new type of foam called Renew to the Trey 5 line-up. The midsole carving on the heel shows that the KD Trey IX will continue to implement full-length Renew foam, but also paired with Air Zoom on the forefoot. Since the shoe is a budget model, we expect the Air Zoom unit to be a rectangular unit.
Outsole

Budget models rarely change the outsole pattern, hence the image shows that the KD Trey 5 IX also features the wavy pattern found on the two previous models.
The KD Trey 5 line hasn’t been the most popular secondary signature line compared to its peers like the Kyrie Flytrap and LeBron Ambassador. With the addition of Air Zoom on top of the Renew foam, Nike looks to be pushing the KD Trey 5 line as a budget line that focuses on cushion. With budget signature lines rarely using soft foams, the KD Trey 5 line might just appeal to those looking for a cheap basketball shoe with good cushioning.
