Since its first model, the Kyrie Low line has strictly kept an independent design language to the main Kyrie line. Whilst, the Low line continued to represent Kyrie’s philosophy, the design of the low’s were unique and wasn’t heavily influenced by the main line. However, the recently leaked Kyrie Low 4 looks closer to the main line than ever.
Similarity in design with the Kyrie 7 starts from the upper. The patent leather tip on the heel is a feature clearly taken from the Kyrie 7. And the most obvious function taken from the Kyrie 7 is the TPU piece on the forefoot, which adds stability and lockdown. The materials used on the upper do differ as it looks to be made up of basic performance mesh.
Midsole Cushion Set-up
The last three models of the Kyrie Low line featured Air Zoom units on the forefoot and the heel. That is about to change in the Kyrie Low 4 as it will introduce full-length Cushlon, replacing the forefoot and heel Air Zoom unit set-up. Cushlon has been used on the Kyrie 4 and it is essentially a lighter and more responsive phylon foam.
The aggressive outsole curvature on the lateral side clearly shows that the outsole is inspired by the Kyrie 7. So, whilst there aren’t clear images showing the outsole, it can be predicted that the outsole pattern will be similar to the ones found on the Kyrie 7.
One of the main attractions of the Kyrie Low line over the Kyrie main line was the extra Air Zoom unit on the heel, giving cushioning a slight edge over the Kyrie Low line. However, now that the Zoom units have been completely removed and replaced by the Cushlon foam midsole, it will be interesting to see if the Kyrie Low 4 can continue to perform as well as it predecessors.
