NEW BALANCE TWO WXY v2

Set to release this spring, the TWO WXY line is built to fit into the current positionless basketball scene. Rather than building the shoe for a specific position, the TWO WXY line looks to compliment the versatile player at both ends of the floor. The latest model, the v2 has kept the mid-cut shape but with technological revamps.

Upper

The upper features Fit Weave Lite, the same material used in The KAWHI II upper. According to New Balance, the Fit Weave Lite “keeps its shape for targeted stretch and support with an extra lightweight feel”. Along the mesh upper, the forefoot area has been treated with thicker and dense stitching for improvement in forefoot lockdown.

Midsole

The midsole features ABZORB technology, a blend of Dupont Engage Isoprene rubber with foam materials. Mainly used in running, training and baseball, this is the first time the foam technology has been implemented on a basketball shoe. ABZORB technology’s properties, similar to EVA foams, allow for shock absorption. However, its blend allows for the cushioning properties of the foam to last longer.

Outsole

The v2 features a topographic-like multidirectional traction pattern. The focus areas around the ball of the foot and heel feature narrower grooves to support fast movements around the court.
