With the NBA Playoffs ready to start, the third signature shoe of Giannis Antetokounmpo was leaked. At a glance, we can already see that Nike is looking to move the two-time MVP’s signature shoe away from a budget signature shoe.
The major difference between the Zoom Freak 3 and the Giannis’ previous signature shoes is the introduction of a forefoot strap. The forefoot strap and the overall design of the upper bears some similarities to the KD 7. The upper seems to be made up of standard performance mesh and synthetic leather, however the material choices seem to differ depending on the colourway.
The cushion system of the Zoom Freak line will also get what many consider an upgrade. Instead of an oval shaped Air Zoom unit, the ZF3 will utilise Air Zoom pods that are used on the LeBron 18 and the BB NXT. Similar to the BB NXT, Air Zoom pods are supported by a large TPU piece that also provides lateral containment. The foam container looks to be phylone and there doesn’t seem to be any form of tech in the heel.
The outsole pattern also bears similarities to the BB NXT with the wavy patterns with pivot points placed directly under the Air Zoom pods.
